This workshop is aimed at complete beginners, or those who would like to develop their skills further with the clay surface, and will be run by by both Fiona and Chris. It will focus on two approaches to making dishes and other vessel forms. Firstly using ceramic moulds, and secondly slab building techniques to create a set of unique handmade and decorated dishes. We will cover a range of different approaches to the surface, including some simple techniques for applying coloured slips, and how to use a variety of tools for markmaking. Other decoration techniques will include stencilling and monoprinting with slips and ceramic ink, creating highly textured slabs and building up patterns.
Limited class sizes (six places only in this class), so lots of hands on support. Your work will be fired and glazed ready to collect a few weeks later. You’ll be notified by email and will then have a month to collect your pieces.
We will take a short break mid way through, so feel free to bring a packed lunch.
£75 per person, inclusive of booking fee, materials, preparation, glazing and firings.
