This one-off workshop will introduce you to a survey of creative ceramic techniques, and will be run jointly by Fiona and Chris. It is aimed at adult beginners who would like to get a taste of making and experimenting with clay. There are many different approaches to working with this versatile material. In this workshop we will cover some of the main processes: handbuilding (coil and slab construction), press moulding, wheel throwing and surface decoration- colour, pattern and mark making. Chris and Fiona will show you each technique, and you will be able to try each one and create pieces of your own design.
The workshop is designed to be a busy, fun and informative hands-on day, and will give you a grounding of some of the basics. We will take a short break half way through the day, so would recommend bringing a packed lunch. There’s tea and coffee here.
Your work will be fired and glazed ready to collect a few weeks later. We will email when its ready, and you will have a month to collect.
£85 per person, inclusive of materials, preparation, glazing and firings. Maximum five people on this workshop.
