Porcelain: throwing and handbuilding

This one day workshop will focus on working with porcelain, and a porcelaineous stoneware. These refined white clays have very unique characteristics and handling properties. During this workshop run by both Chris and Fiona, we will explore working both on the wheel and by hand to create a group of unique pieces. Suitable for complete beginners or those with prior experience who would like to try this special clay. Chris will demonstrate and assist you on the wheel, with each student getting one to one hands on support. Fiona will focus on construction of handbuilt pieces and surface decoration; using slabs of porcelain to build three dimensional forms. Decoration will explore markmaking, textures, patterns and colour using slips and inks as well as other tools and found objects.

Your work will be fired and glazed ready to collect a few weeks later. You will receive an email when the pieces are ready and then will have a month to collect your pieces.

£85 per person, inclusive of materials, preparation and firings.
